By submitting work to Menu, you agree to the following:

Your work stays yours.
You retain full copyright and ownership of everything you submit. By submitting, you give Menu permanent, non-exclusive permission to publish, archive and promote the work as part of Menu.

This may include the printed magazine, readmenu.co.uk, À La Carte, Instagram and other social media, launch events, promotional material, and future promotion of the issue or feature in which your work appears.

We won’t alter your work.
Submitted work will not be edited by Menu. We do, however, retain editorial control over how selected work is sequenced and placed alongside other contributors within the publication.

Submitting is free. Appearing is free.
There is no submission fee and nobody pays to be featured. Unless separately agreed in advance, work selected through the open call is contributed on an unpaid basis.

Submission doesn’t guarantee publication.
Menu is independently edited and not everything submitted will be selected. Unfortunately, we can’t provide individual feedback on every submission.

Not selected this time? Please submit again. A no for one issue isn’t a no forever.

You can withdraw before selection.
You can withdraw your submission at any point before Menu formally confirms that it has been selected. Once work has been accepted and entered into production or published, we may not be able to withdraw it and Menu’s permission to archive and promote the published feature remains permanent.

Make sure you have permission to send it.
By submitting, you confirm that you own the work or have the authority to submit it, and that you have obtained any permissions required from photographers, models, collaborators, clients or other rights holders.

We’ll credit you.
Contributors will be clearly credited wherever reasonably possible using the name, website and/or social details supplied with the submission.

Published work stays in the archive.
Features may remain permanently available through Menu’s print and digital archive, even after that particular issue or campaign is no longer current.

The short version

Your work stays yours. We get permission to publish it. Nobody pays to be featured. Not everything submitted gets in. We’ll credit you properly.
